Senior Data Engineer (AI/Healthcare)

Location: New York City, hybrid

Salary: $190,000–$210,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own a major Data Platform workstream from ambiguous requirements through architecture, delivery, and production operation.
• Build reliable, production-grade pipelines with idempotency, late-arriving data handling, backfills, and failure recovery.
• Design EHR extract infrastructure for Epic Clarity, athenahealth, and ODBC-based sources.
• Transform raw healthcare data into curated, trusted models used across product surfaces.
• Shape technical direction through design reviews, mentoring, and architectural decisions.
• Operate platform health, including observability, access control, warehouse cost management, and on-call support.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating production data systems, including end-to-end ownership of a substantial pipeline or platform component.
• Strong Python and advanced SQL skills, including work with large warehouse schemas and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or another modern data warehouse and an orchestration framework such as Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect.
• Experience with SQLMesh, dbt, or a similar transformation framework.
• Ability to scope systems around volume, latency, SLAs, production reliability, and failure modes.
• Must work in a hybrid setup in New York City.

Nice to have

• Healthcare data experience with EHR integrations, HL7/FHIR, claims data, payer workflows, or PHI/HIPAA constraints.
• Experience building foundational infrastructure in an early-stage or resource-constrained environment.
• AWS depth across IAM, S3, and ECS/Fargate, plus Datadog observability experience.
