Data Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, on-site

Base salary: $150,000–$230,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the analytics infrastructure, including ETL pipelines, Snowflake, dbt models, orchestration, and system reliability.
• Design and run evaluation and testing layers for internal agentic analytics tools and customer-facing enterprise analytics.
• Define core KPIs, maintain the pipelines that produce them, and document metric definitions and changes.
• Develop deep product knowledge and partner with engineering and product to turn internal analytics work into customer-facing features.
• Take ownership of a dedicated analytics domain as the infrastructure and team mature.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related field, with ownership of production data systems.
• Deep SQL proficiency and experience with a modern cloud data warehouse, preferably Snowflake.
• Hands-on dbt experience with models, tests, macros, and incremental strategies.
• Strong Python skills for pipeline and transformation work, plus experience with orchestration and modern ETL tooling.
• Understanding of partitioning, incremental model design, storage tiering, and fast data refresh at increasing event volumes.
• Practical fluency with AI products, including retrieval, tool calls, model turns, and cost drivers in agentic systems; ability to work autonomously across stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Growth-stage experience or familiarity with large-scale data systems.
• Experience building evaluations or test harnesses for LLM-powered systems.
• Experience with single- and multi-tenant customer architectures.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Intercom, usage-based billing, or third-party financial and B2B data vendors.
• Background in financial services, enterprise SaaS, or vertical AI.
