Director of IT & Workplace

Location: On-site at the Menlo Park, California headquarters, United States. The role supports a distributed clinician and staff population.

What you will do

• Own the multi-year IT and workplace roadmap, operating and capital budgets, vendor strategy, service levels, and leadership reporting.
• Lead, coach, hire, and develop the IT and workplace team while remaining hands-on when critical issues require direct intervention.
• Own identity, endpoint, SaaS, networking, and connectivity operations across Okta, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, IRU, MDM-managed Mac and Windows devices, VDIs, and business applications.
• Automate provisioning, access reviews, device setup, and other operational workflows with scripted and auditable processes.
• Lead platform migrations, upgrades, office buildouts, and IT and workplace integration of acquired companies.
• Own headquarters operations, space planning, physical security, access control, visitor management, conference-room and event AV, facilities vendors, landlord matters, and remote equipment logistics.

Requirements

• 8+ years of IT experience spanning hands-on administration or engineering and progressively senior ownership.
• 3+ years managing IT or workplace teams, including hiring, performance management, and employee development.
• Proven ownership of an IT function through rapid growth, scaling systems and processes ahead of headcount.
• Deep technical expertise in identity, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, fleet-scale MDM, and corporate networking; Okta or a comparable identity platform is required.
• Experience as a named control owner in a regulated environment such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST, including auditor interaction.
• Budget ownership and vendor negotiation experience, with the ability to frame risks and funding requests for CFO-level decisions.
• Workplace or facilities exposure, including buildouts, moves, physical security, or lease management, or the ability to learn and take ownership quickly.
• Willingness to stay close to operational work and resolve urgent technology issues when necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience; demonstrated ability is valued over credentials.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or another environment handling sensitive personal data at scale.
• Experience integrating an acquisition or establishing an access governance or asset management program.
• Automation experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell, including managing devices and infrastructure as code.
• Certifications such as Okta Certified Administrator, Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator, Jamf, CISM, CISSP, or ITIL.
