Engineering Manager, Query Service (AI)

Location: San Francisco, US (Hybrid)

Total target cash compensation: $279,000–$377,000 USD, including base and variable compensation.

What you will do

• Lead an engineering team and expand its scope over time.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers while building a culture of ownership and high-quality delivery.
• Shape product and engineering direction with Product, turning complex ideas into focused execution.
• Set the technical bar, protect system quality, and provide hands-on technical leadership or empower technical leads as appropriate.
• Guide the Query Serving organization responsible for the Query API, query planning infrastructure, and system scalability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience and 2+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience building and operating infrastructure for real-world, customer-facing web applications.
• Experience building and using AI-powered products in production.
• Experience collaborating with product managers and designers on meaningful infrastructure.
• Strong technical judgment, ownership, accountability, and product intuition.
• Director-level candidates must have experience managing managers.
