Staff Software Engineer, Industrial Controls Systems - Tooling (AI)

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA — HQ; hybrid work

Base salary: $144,000–$211,200 per year

What you will do

• Design and develop industrial control system automation for commissioning, manufacturing, and PLC automation.
• Build PLC and HMI code generation using AOI libraries and Ignition templates.
• Automate PLC code testing, optimization, and remote deployment with Agentic AI.
• Design scalable, maintainable software systems and resolve production issues through root-cause analysis.
• Integrate tools, services, and APIs for data retrieval and reporting.
• Lead assigned work, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with internal and external customers in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of software design and implementation experience.
• At least 5 years of professional object-oriented software development in C#.
• Experience with AI-driven development and Agentic AI applications.
• Experience with microservices, database schemas, networking, and electrical engineering.
• PLC programming and experience with Rockwell, Ignition, or similar integration and testing tools are highly preferred.
