Business Intelligence Analyst / Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Bethesda, Maryland, United States; other listed locations include Getzville, Tampa, Lakeland, and Chicago.

Annual salary: $91,225–$172,200.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and support enterprise BI solutions, including semantic and metric layers, dimensional models, dashboards, reports, scorecards, and visual analytics products.
• Build and optimize Power BI semantic models and reporting solutions using DAX, Power Query, Power BI Service, Workspaces, Apps, Deployment Pipelines, and refresh processes.
• Apply advanced analytical and statistical techniques to identify trends, performance drivers, customer behavior, and operational improvement opportunities.
• Optimize performance, refresh reliability, storage modes, Row-Level Security, capacity usage, and the overall reporting user experience.
• Partner with stakeholders, data engineering, and technology teams to define analytical questions, validate data, and translate findings into recommendations.
• Lead reporting modernization, certification, testing, troubleshooting, deployment, automation, and technical reviews; at Level IV, lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor analysts and developers.

Requirements

• Advanced experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise business intelligence solutions using Power BI or comparable visualization platforms.
• Strong proficiency in DAX, semantic modeling, dimensional modeling, Power Query, data visualization, enterprise BI architecture, and advanced SQL.
• Experience with enterprise dashboards, reports, semantic models, large-scale datasets, stakeholder requirements, and actionable reporting solutions.
• Business Intelligence Analyst III: 4–7 years of relevant experience; Business Intelligence Analyst IV: 7–10 years.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile environment, manage multiple priorities, and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification or equivalent Power BI administration knowledge.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Apache Superset, Apache Airflow, Power BI Project formats, Git-based workflows, Azure DevOps, or comparable platforms.
• Knowledge of Power BI capacity management, licensing, governance, DirectQuery, Import mode, composite models, incremental refresh, and Row-Level Security.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, Python or scripting, and validating AI-generated code.
• Property and casualty insurance, claims analytics, finance analytics, or enterprise reporting experience.
