Director, IT Project Management Office (PMO)

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio, United States; office-based environment with occasional work from home for eligible positions after training

What you will do

• Build and lead the IT Project Management Office and manage a team of IT Project Managers.
• Establish project management methodologies, standards, templates, governance, stage gates, change control, and escalation processes.
• Own IT portfolio intake, prioritization, roadmap planning, resource forecasting, dashboards, and performance reporting.
• Ensure software projects meet regulatory, quality, data integrity, SDLC, validation, and audit-readiness requirements.
• Identify portfolio-level dependencies, risks, conflicts, and delivery improvements.
• Select and administer project and portfolio management tools and provide oversight of high-risk or high-visibility projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of IT project management experience, including 3+ years leading project managers or a PMO.
• Experience establishing or maturing PMO processes, governance frameworks, and project standards.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid SDLC methodologies.
• Experience managing concurrent software projects, budgets, resource planning, risks, executive communication, and stakeholder relationships.
• Strong leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and project portfolio reporting skills.

Nice to have

• PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe, or another relevant certification.
• Experience in a contract research organization, pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated life sciences environment.
• Knowledge of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, and computer system validation practices.
• Experience with internally developed software, organizational change management, Power BI, Tableau, or portfolio management tools.
