Product Application Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States, with an office location in Fairport, NY and approximately 40% travel to customer sites.

Salary: $83,400–$155,000 per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with Sales Representatives to qualify opportunities and lead the technical side of the sales process.
• Review customer specifications, drawings, and application requirements, then recommend suitable Qualitrol solutions.
• Create quotes, technical bid responses, specification compliance reviews, and clarifications.
• Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, technical training, and customer-site support.
• Support field investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and technical reports for customer quality concerns.
• Share customer feedback and field findings with Engineering and Product teams to improve products, processes, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience in Application Engineering, Field Service, Technical Support, Engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and/or communications systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer focus, and the ability to manage technical issues independently through resolution.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40%.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of electric power generation, transmission, distribution, transformers, substations, or condition-monitoring and protection equipment.
• Experience with TCP/IP, serial communications, Oracle, and/or Salesforce.
