Director, Global Trade Compliance

Location: Hybrid role based in New Albany, Ohio, United States

Global, digitally led omnichannel specialty retailer of apparel and accessories operating Abercrombie and Hollister brands across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

What you will do

• Develop and lead the enterprise-wide global trade compliance strategy, governance framework, operating model, and risk management program.
• Oversee U.S. Customs and Border Protection compliance, product classification, customs valuation, country of origin, broker management, recordkeeping, audits, and corrective actions.
• Direct Foreign Trade Zone operations, including inventory controls, admissions, weekly entries, regulatory reporting, and audit readiness.
• Lead duty optimization through free trade agreements, duty drawback, First Sale opportunities, tariff mitigation, and supply chain security programs such as C-TPAT.
• Implement analytics, dashboards, automation, systems integration, workflow redesign, and data-quality improvements for scalable trade operations.
• Build and develop a high-performing trade compliance and FTZ team while advising executive leadership and collaborating across sourcing, finance, tax, logistics, technology, planning, and distribution.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance, customs, international logistics, or related functions.
• Deep expertise in U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, customs valuation, country of origin, tariff strategy, duty optimization, FTZ operations, broker management, audits, and regulatory interpretation.
• Experience supporting international sourcing in retail, apparel, footwear, consumer products, or other high-volume global supply chains.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide compliance programs, modernization initiatives, technology implementations, control frameworks, and change management.
• Demonstrated success leading teams and influencing executive stakeholders across complex, matrixed organizations.
• Exceptional executive communication, collaboration, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Licensed Customs Broker certification.
• Apparel and textile trade compliance experience.
• Knowledge of free trade agreements, duty drawback, tariff mitigation, and First Sale methodologies.
• Experience implementing or optimizing FTZ programs in distribution center operations.
• Familiarity with SAP, Descartes, GTM platforms, or automation tools; a bachelor's degree in supply chain, international business, logistics, or a related field.
