Lead Scientist (Cell Culture)

What you will do

• Lead cell culture media development from concept and feasibility through formulation optimization, scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization.
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments using shake flasks, high-throughput systems, and bioreactors.
• Develop and optimize mammalian cell culture media and process strategies, including laboratory- and manufacturing-relevant perfusion processes.
• Lead technical work on cross-functional projects with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Analytical, and other stakeholders.
• Identify and solve complex technical problems, document results, present recommendations, and share scientific best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline with 8+ years of experience, master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience developing mammalian cell culture media, including formulation, preparation, screening, and performance evaluation.
• Hands-on experience with perfusion cell culture, including experimental design, operation, sampling, data analysis, and interpretation.
• Proficiency in high-throughput experimentation and assay development.
• Ability to design experiments independently, analyze complex datasets using statistical methods or Design of Experiments, and communicate technical conclusions.
• Ability to work on-site in a laboratory environment in Logan, Utah.

Nice to have

• Experience with perfusion-capable ambr250 HT, ambr250 modular, ambr15, or other automated microbioreactor systems.
• Experience leading scientific or product development projects through scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization.
• Experience with cell retention technologies, intensified cell culture, single-use bioreactors, process characterization, Quality by Design, or regulated manufacturing technology transfer.
