Medical Assistant Adjunct Instructor (Healthcare Education)

Location: Onsite at the UMA campus, 1255 Cleveland Street, Clearwater, Florida 33755; classroom, office, laboratory, employer, and healthcare facility settings. Up to 10% travel may be required, with evening and weekend flexibility as needed.

Anticipated starting rate: $720.00 per week. Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM.

What you will do

• Teach approved medical assistant curriculum, including core content, laboratory skills, professionalism, and certification preparation.
• Evaluate coursework, clinical skill demonstrations, assignments, and assessments while providing timely constructive feedback.
• Provide remediation, tutoring, open laboratory instruction, and targeted support for students at risk of falling behind.
• Supervise student externship experiences and advise students on academics, attendance, career readiness, and professionalism.
• Maintain student engagement, monitor achievement and retention, and communicate barriers to student success to leadership.
• Participate in curriculum review, institutional initiatives, compliance activities, and required meetings and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, at least 15 semester credit hours in the subject field, and academic preparation in the courses taught.
• Graduation from a healthcare program and at least three years of occupational experience.
• Active healthcare certification or licensure when applicable to the instructional field.
• Professional verbal and written English communication skills required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and other business tools.
• Ability to work onsite in office, classroom, and laboratory environments and perform the relevant clinical skills required.

Nice to have

• One to three years of post-secondary teaching experience.
• Experience with Brightspace or another learning management or asynchronous instructional system.
• Experience with CampusNexus or another student information system.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and practices supporting mastery of course objectives.
