Tutor (Special Education)

Location: On-site, in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, California, United States

Pay: $25–$35 per hour; approximately 25 hours per month across two one-hour sessions per week.

What you will do

• Provide one-on-one academic support in Business English based on the student's Individualized Education Plan.
• Explain course materials, instructions, and assignments through repeated explanations and guided practice.
• Support homework, assignment completion, and coursework prioritization.
• Build organization and time-management skills using planners, checklists, visual schedules, and structured routines.
• Teach self-advocacy and coping strategies while encouraging greater independence.
• Monitor progress and communicate relevant updates to the family or designated support team.

Requirements

• Fluent English and Spanish are required.
• Special education experience is required.
• Experience supporting college students or young adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
• Ability to provide patient, organized, encouraging, and step-by-step instruction.
• Ability to work in person in Los Angeles and provide tutoring in the student's home.
• An active teaching credential is preferred.
