Structural Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Location: On-site in Austin, Dallas, or New Orleans, United States. Minimal travel to client sites is required.

What you will do

• Support structural and building science teams with investigations, report preparation, design development, and site reviews.
• Perform field investigations and monitor construction progress for compliance with specifications, building codes, and standards.
• Participate in construction field reviews and prepare site review and construction review reports.
• Assess building envelope systems through condition surveys, testing, and evaluation.
• Prepare working drawings, specifications, and terms of reference while supporting multiple small projects under supervision.
• Learn hygrothermal modeling software to support building enclosure durability analysis.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a third- or fourth-year student in an applied science or engineering post-secondary program.
• Some college or higher in engineering is preferred.
• Proficiency with relevant computer applications, including Word and Excel.
• Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid Texas driver’s license for travel to client sites.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards, or willingness to learn them.
• Project management, communication, organizational, and technical writing skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
