Staff Product Designer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Denver, CO; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA. Employees based in these locations are expected to work from the office approximately 2–3 days per week or more depending on the role. The San Francisco office expectations include the San Jose metro area.

Salary: $146,000–$183,000 per year in Denver; $177,000–$222,000 per year in San Francisco and New York.

What you will do

• Own product design end to end, from framing ambiguous problems through shipping high-craft, accessible experiences.
• Shape product goals, priorities, and roadmaps with product managers and engineering leads.
• Translate 0→1 strategies into clear scopes, flows, and interaction patterns.
• Design AI-native experiences that represent uncertainty, handle errors gracefully, preserve customer agency, and enable human handoffs.
• Lead or support customer research, competitive audits, and hypothesis-driven exploration in high-stakes domains.
• Raise the craft and systems bar by evolving the design system and using AI tools in the design practice.

Requirements

• 6+ years of product design experience owning and shipping end-to-end work, ideally in B2B SaaS, fintech, or another high-trust domain.
• Experience designing AI-enabled or conversational experiences shipped to real users.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and 0→1 product development without perfect information.
• Strong systems thinking and experience contributing to or evolving a design system.
• Sound judgment for evaluating AI outputs, overrides, and high-cost failure scenarios.
• Strong collaboration and communication across design, product, engineering, and data.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated domains such as fintech, financial services, HR, compliance, legal, or healthcare.
• Hands-on experience designing AI-driven or agentic products and human handoffs.
• Service-design experience with two-sided or multi-stakeholder products.
• Experience leading AI-native workflow changes or contributing to AI governance and evaluation practices.
