Interim Associate or Senior Climate Science Editor (Climate Science)

Location: Hybrid work in London or Pune

What you will do

• Assess original climate science manuscripts and oversee the peer-review process.
• Make editorial decisions based on expert advice and evaluate research novelty, context, and implications.
• Contribute to scientific content and editorial strategy for Nature Geoscience and other Nature Portfolio journals.
• Commission and edit Reviews, editorials, and other scientific content.
• Collaborate with editors and experts across the international scientific community.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent qualification in a climate science-related field.
• Thorough understanding of current trends and developments in climate science.
• Ability to assess research from different areas of the discipline and understand its novelty, context, and implications.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken, is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong interest in scientific research.
• Willingness to travel and meet scientists worldwide.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of physical climate modelling, atmospheric dynamics, anthropogenic climate change, climate policy and governance, or glaciology.
• Additional research experience.
• Editorial experience, particularly for consideration for Senior Editor positions.
