Senior Scientist, Automated Synthesis & High Through-Put Chemistry

What you will do

• Lead automated chemistry operations and design parallel compound libraries for drug discovery and SAR development.
• Program, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Chemspeed FLEX/ISYNTH and SWILE automated synthesis platforms using AutoSuite.
• Design high-throughput reaction screens, optimize catalysts, reagents, and reaction conditions, and translate procedures into scalable automated workflows.
• Develop automated downstream processing workflows including extraction, filtration, solvent exchange, and parallel evaporation.
• Integrate experimental data into ELN, LIMS, and internal data systems in collaboration with informatics and computational teams.
• Partner with medicinal, analytical, computational, and AI scientists; provide technical leadership and training on automated synthesis and HTE platforms.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or an M.S. with 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience in multi-step organic synthesis, reaction screening, and parallel library synthesis.
• Demonstrated expertise programming and operating Chemspeed AutoSuite for automated synthesis workflows.
• Strong knowledge of synthetic route design, reaction mechanisms, optimization, troubleshooting, liquid and solid handling, and reaction miniaturization.
• Experience with automated or semi-automated purification, including Biotage, Teledyne ISCO, preparative HPLC, or SFC, and with LC-MS or UPLC/HPLC data interpretation.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary drug discovery teams, manage parallel chemistry campaigns, and translate scientific requirements into practical workflows.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Tecan EVO or related liquid-handling systems.
• Experience integrating automation workflows with ELN, LIMS, cheminformatics, or laboratory data systems.
• Experience with cross-coupling chemistry, amide bond formation, photoredox catalysis, or C–H functionalization.
