Senior Scientist, Automation, PAT, and AI (Cell Therapy)

Salary: $153,935–$199,210 per year, with potential annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the development, optimization, automation, and lifecycle management of analytical workflows across plate-based, culture-based, molecular, impurity, and related assay formats.
• Convert manual and semi-manual methods into robust automated workflows using liquid handlers, integrated instruments, instrument software, and digital tools.
• Design and execute method development, robustness, comparability, verification, validation, QC transfer, and lifecycle management studies.
• Evaluate and implement automation platforms, PAT tools, instrument integrations, and technologies supporting throughput, reproducibility, process monitoring, and compliant execution.
• Integrate automation and PAT outputs with LIMS, ELN, structured data systems, electronic batch records, and advanced analytics platforms.
• Identify and implement practical AI-enabled workflows that improve operational efficiency, data accessibility, documentation, review, and laboratory infrastructure utilization.

Requirements

• PhD with 2+ years, MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience in analytical development, method development, method automation, bioassay development, or a related biopharmaceutical laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience developing, optimizing, automating, or transferring analytical methods in a regulated or quality-focused biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, gene therapy, biologics, or complex therapeutic setting.
• Experience with laboratory automation, liquid handling systems, integrated analytical instruments, assay workflow optimization, or comparable technologies.
• Working knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, troubleshooting, technical documentation, GMP expectations, and data integrity principles.
• Strong communication, collaboration, prioritization, and problem-solving skills for cross-functional work.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hamilton, TECAN, Biomek, Integra, or comparable automation platforms.
• Experience with PAT, data-rich experimentation, design of experiments, multivariate analysis, chemometrics, automation scripting, Python, machine learning, or AI-assisted data interpretation.
• Knowledge of ALCOA+, 21 CFR Part 11, ICH guidance, regulated documentation, change control, deviations, investigations, and technology transfer.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, mentoring scientists or end users, and building sustainable analytical technology capabilities.
