TL;DR
Technical Architect (AI): Owns the end-to-end architecture of Boon's construction preconstruction platform across Rails, Python computer-vision services, LLM agent runtime, and data infrastructure with an accent on scalability, reliability, and cost-efficient inference. Focus on designing model infrastructure, leading architectural decisions under 100× blueprint-volume growth, and solving complex cross-system problems while continuing to write production code.

is an AI platform for construction that automates preconstruction workflows such as blueprint analysis, estimating, and bid management.
What you will do
- Own end-to-end architecture across the Rails product application, Python computer-vision services, agent SDK, and data platform.
- Design scalability, reliability, and cost strategies for computer-vision, LLM, and VLM inference pipelines as blueprint volume grows.
- Set technical direction for vision models, LLM orchestration, agent runtime, MLflow, evaluation infrastructure, and GPU usage.
- Lead architecture reviews, design documentation, code reviews, and mentorship for senior engineers.
- Partner with the CEO and product leadership on the 12–18 month technical roadmap, including build-versus-buy and platform investment decisions.
- Continue writing production code, participating in incident response, reviewing pull requests, and solving the most complex technical problems.
Requirements
- 10+ years building production software and 3+ years as a senior staff engineer, principal engineer, architect, or CTO at a product company.
- Deep experience with at least two of large Rails or Python monoliths, production computer-vision pipelines, LLM or agent systems at scale, and data-intensive B2B SaaS.
- Production experience handling documents, PDFs, images, OCR, or other messy real-world inputs.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP, PostgreSQL at scale, RabbitMQ or Sidekiq, and modern deployment practices.
- Experience leading architectural decisions that remained effective through 10× or greater growth and shipping production code within the last six months.
- Familiarity with SRE and DevOps practices, including Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD.
Nice to have
- Construction, AEC, or other vertical SaaS experience.
- Experience taking a company from Series A to Series C technically.
