Senior Global Commodity Manager (Mechanical)

Location: Malaysia - Johor. The role supports the Johor facility and requires regular regional travel within Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and China, with occasional international travel. Work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on business needs.

What you will do

• Develop and execute Malaysia and Southeast Asia commodity strategies for metals machining, sheet metal fabrication, special coatings, electronic components, cables, and gas distribution components.
• Lead strategic negotiations covering pricing, commercial terms, contracts, capacity commitments, and long-term supplier agreements.
• Own sourcing execution from RFQ and supplier selection through purchase order placement, material delivery, and ongoing supplier performance management.
• Lead supplier escalations involving production, quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and continuity-of-supply challenges.
• Build supplier networks across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, China, and other strategic global regions to support manufacturing growth.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to improve sourcing effectiveness, supplier readiness, cost performance, and scalability.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, program management, and cross-functional supplier initiatives in a global manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a technical discipline.
• Experience developing supplier strategies, managing executive-level supplier relationships, and delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, business judgment, and materials order management skills, including the RFQ-through-delivery cycle.
• Experience with materials commodities such as metals machining, sheet metal fabrication, electronic components, cables, and gas distribution components; SEMI equipment manufacturing experience is desired.
• Fluent English is required. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia, or another Southeast Asian language is a strong plus.

• Project or program management training, PMI or PMP certification.
• Lean Six Sigma training or certification.
• Experience reading technical drawings and specifications in Agile or similar tools.
• Direct experience managing supplier networks and regional sourcing practices in Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and China.
