Earth Observation Satellite System Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Getafe Area, Madrid, Spain; hybrid working when possible.

What you will do

• Lead the development and execution of ECSS-compliant Verification and Validation plans, strategies, methods, and control documentation.
• Perform mission analysis and derive CONOPS and product verification strategies across the mission lifecycle.
• Coordinate system-level environmental and end-to-end functional testing and interpret test data and technical reports.
• Manage interfaces and Interface Control Documents between spacecraft, payload, and ground segments, resolving cross-subsystem conflicts.
• Support the Chief Engineer with technical oversight, risk management, technical decisions, reviews, resource estimation, cost control, and schedule alignment.
• Deploy MBSE, multidisciplinary analysis, concurrent design, and digital engineering methods across product development and manufacturing.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of systems engineering experience in the space industry, focused on satellite platforms or complex space missions.
• Strong understanding of the space mission lifecycle, ECSS standards, requirements engineering, interface management, and system modeling.
• Knowledge of satellite subsystems including AOCS, EPS, OBDH, telecommunications, and thermal systems.
• Fluent English is required.
• Technical leadership, communication, problem-solving, and the ability to support a deputy management role.

Nice to have

• Background in Earth Observation or science mission architectures.
• Knowledge of SAR and optical payloads.
• Experience with DOORS or similar requirements engineering tools.
• Proficiency in Spanish, French, or German.
