Principal Technical Project Manager

Location: Hybrid, with the main office in London and additional offices in Cambridge and Leeds; office attendance is expected at least twice a month.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery of critical technical workstreams from initiation through business as usual.
• Manage objectives and key results, delivery plans, roadmaps, risks, issues, actions, and dependencies across Engineering Chapter teams.
• Partner with Product Managers and Service Owners to align requirements, timelines, budgets, and outcomes.
• Prepare status updates, programme board reports, governance materials, and engineering decision-making structures.
• Implement governance across cybersecurity, data quality, data protection, IT requirements, accreditations, and relevant standards.
• Lead contributors and line-manage Delivery Chapter colleagues while supporting suppliers, procurement, budgets, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven project and programme delivery experience from initiation through business as usual.
• Strong agile project, risk, issue, stakeholder, and commercial management skills.
• Experience communicating complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience making decisions, managing escalations, and delivering in ambiguous and highly regulated environments.
• Experience with line management, either directly or in a matrix organisation.
• Awareness of platform engineering, internal developer platforms, QA practices, SRE, DevEx, DORA, CI/CD, observability, AWS, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitLab, DataDog, Terraform, or related GitHub, New Relic, and CloudFormation technologies.
