Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in the United Kingdom; based in Staines-upon-Thames, England, with travel to customer sites as needed, up to approximately 50%.

What you will do

• Partner with Solutions Consultants and Account Executives on strategic accounts and new business opportunities.
• Lead technical discovery, scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff for customer solutions.
• Build rapid prototypes using customer data, then engineer production solutions for security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and integration.
• Measure adoption, workflow impact, reliability, and time-to-value while iterating with technical and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Product and R&D to convert validated customer patterns into roadmap investments, reusable accelerators, and platform improvements.
• Develop and continuously update solution specifications based on customer requirements, business value, and evolving outcomes.

Requirements

• Customer-facing and commercial ability to lead technical discovery, communicate with technical and business stakeholders, and connect technology to business outcomes.
• Experience with LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, agent orchestration, memory and state management, and modern AI coding tools.
• Technical and functional familiarity with enterprise integrations, including REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and systems such as ESRI ArcGIS or Smallworld, IBM Maximo, SAP or Oracle ERP/PPM, and Power BI.
• Ability to generalize customer solutions into reusable accelerators and work effectively with unfamiliar languages and codebases.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, up to approximately 50%.
• Experience with software or data engineering, including Python or a similar language, Angular, SQL, data modeling, ingestion and transformation pipelines, debugging, observability, performance, and scale.

Nice to have

• Experience in utilities, energy, transportation, capital planning, or other asset-intensive industries.
• Prior customer-facing technical work in solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or a startup environment.
• Experience deploying AI in enterprise or regulated environments.
