Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, Texas; Menlo Park, California; or Reston, Virginia, United States. Flexible hybrid work with remote options; willingness to travel 25–75% is required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required U.S. government authorizations.

Salary: $170,000–$225,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and other incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Transform AI proofs of concept, demos, and prototypes into robust production systems.
• Design and deploy data pipelines, retrieval frameworks, and RAG-based applications for enterprise data.
• Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy large language models and agentic workflows with grounded, explainable, and compliant outputs.
• Integrate AI agents into customer environments and containerize and orchestrate deployments across AWS, Azure, GCP, private cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.
• Work directly with client engineering teams and stakeholders to debug model behavior, optimize inference, and implement monitoring and guardrails.
• Create reusable playbooks, evaluation frameworks, and deployment accelerators for scalable AI adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or applied machine learning, including production system deployment.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML and LLM frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, or vLLM, including model fine-tuning and agent deployment.
• Experience with enterprise security, compliance, performance standards, on-premise and multi-cloud environments, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
• Ability to work in the United States under applicable U.S. government international trade regulations and willingness to travel 25–75%.

Nice to have

• Experience with graph databases and languages, React, CI/CD, GitHub or GitLab, Terraform, CloudFormation, vector databases, RAG architectures, and enterprise data integration.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, responsible AI, and Trustworthy AI principles.
• Experience building client-facing applications or agentic workflows from prototype to scalable deployment.
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences.
