Financial Controller (Fintech)

Location: On-site in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Global technology businesses operate a large freelancing and crowdsourcing marketplace alongside secure online payments and heavy haulage marketplace products.

What you will do

• Lead month-end, half-year, and year-end close processes, including consolidation of multi-currency subsidiaries.
• Prepare statutory financial statements under IFRS/AASB and coordinate ASX and other regulatory filings.
• Own the global audit process and maintain internal controls across fintech and marketplace platforms.
• Manage GST/VAT, corporate income tax, and R&D tax incentive compliance across international jurisdictions.
• Oversee global cash flow, intercompany settlements, and foreign-exchange risk management.
• Refine and automate financial systems, workflows, and reporting processes while leading and developing the finance team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Mandatory CA or CPA qualification.
• 8+ years of progressive experience, ideally including Big 4 experience and a senior reporting or controllership role.
• Experience in an ASX-listed or high-growth technology environment, with complex consolidations and international accounting treatments.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS/AASB standards and experience with high-volume transactional businesses, escrow accounting, or multi-currency platforms.
• Proven ability to manage and mentor a global finance team while meeting demanding reporting deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP implementations, financial automation tools, or process automation.
• Background in fintech, online marketplaces, escrow accounting, or multi-currency platforms.
