Senior Software Development Engineer (Java)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; onsite five days per week

Annual base salary: $175,000–$215,000; target annual bonus: 10%

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, enriching, and indexing large-scale company and person data.
• Own system components end-to-end, from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Build reliable, scalable, and efficient services that process billions of records from multiple external sources.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, perform code reviews, and provide technical guidance to peers.
• Support production systems through deployments, troubleshooting, and incident response.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data science partners in an Agile environment while experimenting with AI and LLM-powered capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least five years of software engineering experience, predominantly in backend systems, including at least five years of Java development and four years with Spring Boot or Spring Framework.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
• Must be able to work onsite in Seattle five days per week.
• Experience with production microservices, testing, scalability, reliability, and distributed systems concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or comparable streaming and messaging platforms, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with large-scale data ingestion, entity resolution, deduplication, data quality, or enrichment pipelines.
• Knowledge of RESTful API design, domain-driven design, service-oriented architecture, fault tolerance, eventual consistency, backpressure, and at-least-once delivery.
• Experience evaluating and applying AI and LLM tools pragmatically.
