What you will do

• Translate quantum-system requirements into photonic device specifications covering wavelength, optical power, loss, phase, polarization, beam shaping, stability, and optical interfaces.
• Design and develop quantum photonic devices, including photonic integrated circuits and metasurfaces, for quantum computing and control.
• Develop and optimize fabrication processes involving materials, deposition, lithography, etch, interfaces, and heterogeneous integration.
• Perform optical and electrical characterization and correlate device performance with design, materials, and fabrication.
• Design experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot complex device and process issues, and improve performance, yield, and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with quantum physicists, system engineers, materials and process engineers, packaging specialists, and quantum-system teams.

Requirements

• Strong background in quantum photonics and atomic, molecular, and optical physics.
• Experience translating system-level quantum computing and control requirements into scalable photonic device solutions.
• Expertise in a specialized technical discipline and the ability to solve complex problems using advanced analytical judgment.
• Ability to communicate difficult concepts and influence technical decisions across disciplines.
• Position is located in Santa Clara, California, United States.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
