Software Engineer II, Application Platform - AI Services

Location: United States - San Mateo, CA. Hybrid workplace; the role is also described as onsite and based in the United States.

US base salary: $109,000–$186,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain primarily backend features for the application platform.
• Build services for an AI platform supporting AI agents, large language model connections, and knowledge bases.
• Use coding agents and automation tools to accelerate development.
• Write clean, well-tested code with a focus on quality and security.
• Collaborate on secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations and participate in code reviews.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend software engineering experience building web services or applications.
• Experience with coding agents and automation tools.
• Familiarity with Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python, with willingness to learn additional languages.
• Familiarity with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, AI agents, and Model Context Protocol.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to apply AI and data-driven insights to improve productivity and innovation.
