Sr Technical Specialist General Liability

Location: Hybrid in Morristown, New Jersey, United States; other listed locations include New York City and Melville, New York. Travel, including overnight stays, may be required for mediations, trials, and arbitrations.

Annual base salary: $94,400–$155,800, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards and a sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Independently manage complex bodily injury and property damage liability claims and related litigation from first notice of loss through resolution.
• Investigate claims, determine coverage, evaluate liability and damages, identify coverage disputes, and establish appropriate reserves.
• Develop advanced claim resolution and litigation strategies in partnership with internal and external resources and legal counsel.
• Communicate with customers, opposing counsel, vendors, and internal stakeholders while managing multi-party negotiations.
• Maintain accurate claim records, improve claims best practices, and adapt to technology, system, and AI-enabled tool rollouts.
• Mentor and coach Claim Professionals on higher-severity claims and advanced claim-handling practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required.
• At least three years of bodily injury liability, property damage liability, or comparable claims experience; four years of bodily injury claim and litigation experience is preferred.
• Active adjuster license where required by state law, with relevant insurance licenses to be obtained and maintained within three months of starting.
• Experience with claims management systems, Microsoft Office, and enterprise technology platforms.
• Strong skills in coverage interpretation, insurance regulations, liability analysis, conflict resolution, negotiation, litigation management, and customer communication.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in the United States and travel to legal proceedings when required.
