TL;DR
Engineer / Scientist (Aerospace): Supporting AFRL research, development, experimentation, and technology transition activities with an accent on technical analysis, emerging technology assessment, and systems engineering. Location: Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA; on-site work is required as dictated by the program.
Salary: USD 110,000–150,000 per year.

What you will do
- Provide engineering and scientific support for AFRL research, development, experimentation, and technology transition activities.
- Conduct technical research, analyses, studies, and assessments for complex government programs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, technical approaches, architectures, designs, system concepts, maturity, feasibility, and transition potential.
- Support the development, testing, demonstration, integration, and transition of advanced technologies and capabilities.
- Identify technical risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities while supporting planning, requirements development, and technology roadmapping.
- Prepare technical reports, briefings, presentations, status updates, and recommendations for government and contractor leadership.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical science, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering, scientific research, technology development, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience conducting technical analysis, research, engineering support, or scientific work on complex programs.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, space, research and development, advanced technology, or another technically complex environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, organizational, and collaboration skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in engineering, physical science, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience supporting AFRL, U.S. Space Force, the Department of the Air Force, the Department of Defense, or government research and development organizations.
- Experience with space systems, satellite systems, space domain awareness, propulsion, sensors, directed energy, information systems, communications, C4I, or related technical areas.
- Familiarity with systems engineering and Department of Defense research, development, acquisition, and technology transition processes.
