Electrical Controls Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: Charter Wire - 81st Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; onsite work on the production floor. The internship starts in May 2027 and runs during the summer.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot electrical controls, sensors, and automation systems on the production floor.
• Support real-time data deployment using Ignition, Python, SQL, and Java.
• Update electrical drawings and wiring diagrams with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Troubleshoot and improve control systems using Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 and Logix 5000.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a four-year Electrical Engineering, Controls Systems Engineering, or related degree program, with at least sophomore standing.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work successfully in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Availability for 40 hours per week during the summer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Nice to have

• Training in PLC programming languages.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft SQL, or Wonderware InTouch.
