FEA Engineer Intern (Automotive)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin, United States; willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the duration of the summer 2026 internship is required.

Pay: $18.00–$37.00 per hour.

Designs and manufactures specialty trucks and access equipment used to support people, communities, soldiers, firefighters, and field operations.

What you will do

• Assist modeling and simulation engineers with finite element analysis for vehicles and system-level components.
• Learn and use pre-processing, post-processing, and model solver tools such as ANSA, META, OptiStruct, and Abaqus.
• Validate and correlate models using available data to assess accuracy.
• Analyze simulation results, draw actionable conclusions, and prepare technical reports.
• Use and develop custom software tools to process, analyze, and automate simulations.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the summer 2026 internship.
• Summer housing is available for interns whose permanent address is more than 50 miles from the work location.

Nice to have

• Hands-on vehicle experience through Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or similar projects.
• Interest in automotive engineering or motorsports.
• Previous FEA experience with Nastran, OptiStruct, Abaqus, SolidWorks Simulation, or NX FEA.
• Exposure to Python.
