Engineer Intern - Mechanical (Year Round)

Location: Clearwater, Florida, United States

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

Frontline Communications, an Oshkosh company and division of Pierce Manufacturing, designs and manufactures customized broadcast and communications vehicles for electronic news gathering, satellite uplink, field production, bonded cellular, and weather reporting applications.

What you will do

• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software such as CATIA.
• Select components based on weight, cost, reliability, quality, and manufacturability.
• Support prototype, pilot, and production builds on the assembly floor.
• Perform engineering calculations covering weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance estimates.
• Design, model, and test mechanical systems integrated with vehicles.
• Coordinate technical solutions with suppliers, customers, and internal departments, and manage engineering changes and product data.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field throughout the internship.
• Ability to support mechanical engineering activities across design, production, manufacturing, industrial, and test functions.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience using CATIA, Pro-E, or a similar CAD system.
• Previous internship or work-related experience.
• Extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements.
• Experience or strong interest in mechanical design.
