2027 Part-Time Intern - Engineering (Manufacturing)

Location: On-site five days a week at the Pontiac, Illinois facility; daily commuting to the facility is required. Relocation is not available.

Hourly rate: $25.00–$43.00 per hour, based on the degree major and completed academic hours.

What you will do

• Analyze manufacturing and machine data using Microsoft Excel and Minitab Statistical Software.
• Update work instructions in Microsoft Word and create presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Populate machine results documentation in SharePoint.
• Support continuous improvement projects with operations and engineering using Six Sigma tools.
• Assist with new equipment implementation and connect machine tools to databases with OEMs and the Pontiac Controls team.
• Apply data analytics to support engineering and operations.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled full-time at a two-year or four-year college or university.
• Expected graduation date: 2028 or later.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to commute daily to the Pontiac, Illinois facility and work on-site five days per week.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Interest or experience in engineering, quality, or statistics.
• Experience with AutoCAD, blueprint reading, PLCs, SCADA systems, or industrial controls processes.
• Shop floor, technical internship, co-op, research, or relevant experience.
• Strong communication, analytical, interpersonal, leadership, safety, quality, and teamwork skills.

• Part-time schedule of 10–15 hours per week during the school year.
• Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Opportunity to continue through the 2027–2028 school year after a late spring or early summer 2027 start.
