Software Architect (AI)

Location: Tennessee, United States; remote work indicated

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Set architectural vision and milestones for highly scalable Java and web-based applications.
• Lead adoption of AI-driven development practices, including the AI-Driven Development Life Cycle and AI coding agents such as Claude Code.
• Define standards for reviewing, testing, and validating AI-generated code and design artifacts for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Architect LLM integrations for products and internal workflows while addressing security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Review technical designs, support the full Agile software development lifecycle, and troubleshoot JVM, application server, database, and production performance issues.
• Evaluate technologies, develop proofs of concept, support clients with technical implementation plans, and coach developers, testers, and product managers.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 4 years of development experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 6 years of development experience and significant hands-on Java experience.
• Significant technical leadership experience and maturity.
• Hands-on experience with AI-DLC or a similar AI-native development methodology in production software.
• Knowledge of LLMs, prompt and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and LLM API integration.
• Experience with Claude Code or comparable AI coding agents, highly available clustered environments, web application infrastructure, databases, and cloud systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including architecture documentation and diagrams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Tomcat, RHEL, Angular, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, DB2 on IBM i, SQL, Maven or Gradle, JUnit, and IntelliJ IDEA.
• Experience with DB2, AS/400, or Power Systems.
• Healthcare knowledge, including FHIR, HL7, SNOMED, or Medi-Span.
