Senior Engineer - Water Resources

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, US; other locations include Richmond, Virginia; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Flexible hybrid work is available.

What you will do

• Design civil/site and utility infrastructure for public-sector projects, including water distribution, sanitary sewer, pump stations, utility relocations, grading, drainage, and stormwater systems.
• Develop complete construction documents with plan sets, profiles, details, technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Coordinate permitting requirements, agency standards, internal disciplines, subconsultants, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Support project delivery, field investigations, design reviews, utility coordination meetings, and construction-phase services.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and CAD designers while reviewing work for quality and adherence to standards.
• Maintain organized design files and support QA/QC processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in civil/site and utility infrastructure design.
• Significant experience delivering public-sector projects involving water and wastewater systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and the ability to independently prepare construction documents with minimal oversight.
• Experience leading and mentoring junior staff, coordinating stakeholders, and applying civil engineering design, permitting, and plan-production standards.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one within a defined timeframe.
• MicroStation experience.
• Experience with municipal clients, counties, water authorities, or state agencies.
• Familiarity with Georgia standards and agency review processes, including GDOT and local municipalities.
• Experience supporting construction administration and responding to RFIs and submittals.
