Civil Engineer (Biotechnology)

Location: Thousand Oaks, California, United States; other locations include Holly Springs, North Carolina, and West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Workplace type: Flex Commuter / Hybrid. The role requires travel to project sites and organizational locations.

Annual salary: $127,044.40–$171,883.60 USD.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for civil and structural engineering requirements, design standards, specifications, and project execution.
• Develop and review design criteria, calculations, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and engineering studies.
• Support site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, roads, parking, underground utilities, foundations, structural steel, concrete, and building modifications.
• Evaluate existing site and structural conditions, identify risks, and recommend remediation or reinforcement measures.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, facilities teams, EHS professionals, contractors, and external design firms.
• Support capital projects through feasibility, design, construction, commissioning, inspections, and turnover, including field observations and contractor-submittal reviews.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree; or a master’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years; or an associate’s degree plus 8 years; or a high school diploma/GED plus 10 years.
• Experience in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related discipline.
• Ability to ensure compliance with building codes, structural standards, permitting obligations, environmental regulations, and project requirements.
• Ability to travel to project sites and organizational locations for assessments, construction reviews, commissioning, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to provide technical mentoring and subject-matter support to project teams and less-experienced engineers.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license in civil or structural engineering.
• Advanced degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, research, or other regulated facilities.
• Experience with structural assessments, seismic evaluations, existing-building modifications, infrastructure renewal, stormwater management, site permitting, or geotechnical engineering.
• Experience with software for structural analysis, civil design, or site-development planning.
