Staff AI DevOps Engineer (AI)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; hybrid and not remote

Base salary: $141,600–$212,400 per year, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity programs.

What you will do

• Design and build secure, scalable infrastructure for federated AI agents and distributed deployments across AWS and Azure.
• Manage AI agents that generate architecturally sound code and support automated code review, quality checks, and architectural validation.
• Build and maintain Model Context Protocol servers and enterprise integrations for agent communication and coordination.
• Integrate LLMs, generative AI models, and APIs into bot solutions to provide natural-language understanding and intelligent responses.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or Ansible and establish monitoring, governance, security, authentication, and authorization frameworks.
• Partner with internal teams, guide AI infrastructure adoption, lead the transition to AI-augmented development, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional software development experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, agent orchestration, or AI-powered development tools.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript or JavaScript, and AI/ML frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with AWS or Azure, infrastructure-as-code, Docker, Kubernetes, and production container orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, distributed systems, information security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API security, and secure system design.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and mentoring skills, plus basic knowledge of Microsoft 365, IAM, Microsoft Graph API, and Azure AD.

Nice to have

• Experience creating internal tools in product- or solutions-oriented roles.
• AWS, Azure, or AI/ML professional certifications.
• Knowledge of AWS Agent Core, Bedrock, Lambda, Azure AI Foundry, Agent Loop, Azure Functions, MCP integrations, and enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, or GitHub.
• Experience with multi-agent platforms, AI governance and compliance, code generation, automated testing, vector databases, embeddings, or retrieval-augmented generation.
• Experience transitioning development teams from traditional to AI-augmented practices.
