Software Development Engineer II (Backend)

Location: Flexible hybrid model. In-person interviews may be required, particularly for positions based in Boston and Dublin.

Annual base salary: $112,000–$141,000 USD, plus potential bonuses, incentives, and RSUs.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, review, and ship features in Java and Spring Boot services.
• Enrich incoming dealership leads and power APIs and insights used by sales teams.
• Work with high-volume event streams and data technologies including Kafka, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Build intelligence features, including LLM-backed recommendations for dealer next actions.
• Diagnose production issues, participate in on-call support, and improve alerting and observability.
• Partner with product, design, and backend and frontend engineers to scope and deliver projects.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, ideally with Spring Boot.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB or another NoSQL datastore and SQL.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, event streams or message queues, and caching trade-offs.
• Hands-on AWS and cloud infrastructure experience, plus knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
• Experience writing automated tests and interest in using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.

Nice to have

• Python experience.
• Experience with LLM or agent frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
