Software Development Engineer II (Backend)

Salary: $119,000–$166,500 annually, with potential pay up to $190,500 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and components for critical pricing applications.
• Contribute to low-level system design, API contracts, data modeling, and scalable service architecture.
• Build services optimized for high throughput, low latency, observability, and maintainability.
• Own operational quality through monitoring, alerting, logging, automated testing, incident response, and support rotations.
• Collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams to deliver incremental improvements.
• Apply secure coding practices and integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions into real-world products and engineering workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Experience owning features or services end to end, including implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Proficiency in a modern programming language, with experience designing and consuming APIs, modeling data, and applying computer science fundamentals.
• Foundational familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and AI/ML concepts.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and contribute to production software quality and reliability.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Scala, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented or functional programming languages.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, production operations, and incident response.
• Experience designing scalable service architectures, API contracts, and data models.
• Experience optimizing microservices for low latency and throughput above 1M TPS.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for code generation, intelligent testing, or diagnostics.
