Transportation Engineer

Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States; hybrid schedule with office attendance at least three days per week

Salary: $81,200–$121,800 annually

What you will do

• Perform multimodal transportation planning, analysis, and design.
• Conduct site visits, field observations, and transportation data collection.
• Analyze traffic, pedestrian movement, parking, safety, and roadway operations.
• Develop CAD-based drawings for roadway and intersection geometry, signage, markings, and signal controls.
• Review transportation plans and drawings for operational effectiveness and prepare graphics, visualizations, and reports.
• Participate in internal and external project meetings and execute assignments from initiation through completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering.
• Skilled use of Excel and CAD; MicroStation experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of MUTCD standards and roadway design elements, including markings, signing, and signals.
• Familiarity with traffic analysis software such as Synchro/SimTraffic and/or HCS.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, collaboration, prioritization, and independent working skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to commute to the office at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of NACTO and local transportation agency design standards.
• Professional Engineer licensure or the ability to obtain it within one year of starting.
