Intern - Bridge Inspection

Location: Rocky Hill, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule combining on-site field inspections with office work. Night and weekend work may be required.

Compensation: $25–$28 per hour

Engineering and consulting organization providing infrastructure services for roads, bridges, tunnels, mass transit, airports, environmental projects, and other complex infrastructure programs.

What you will do

• Assist inspection team leaders during field inspections of bridges, tunnels, and overhead sign structures.
• Assess structural conditions and support bridge structural analysis and other engineering tasks.
• Prepare technical inspection reports and review documentation produced by other staff.
• Assist with CAD drawings for bridge and highway projects using relevant design software.
• Support project managers with schedules, budgets, deliverables, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, technical managers, project managers, clients, and other project contributors.

Requirements

• Pursuing a BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, MathCAD, Microsoft Office, AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, MIDAS, or LARSA.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, on ladders, and alongside live traffic.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate for operating bucket trucks and company vehicles.
