Archive Intern

Location: New York, NY (hybrid)

Salary: $25 per hour

What you will do

• Support the care, organization, processing, and potential relocation of archival and object collections.
• Verify physical inventories and reconcile object information with existing collection records.
• Update and standardize metadata, file naming conventions, and digital collection records.
• Assist with cataloging digital assets related to hirify.global, Sybil Yurman, and other archival collections.
• Rehouse, ticket, label, and organize archival materials and objects; conduct basic condition checks.
• Fulfill internal archive requests and conduct research for collections, acquisitions, and special projects.

Requirements

• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple assignments, and prioritize deadlines.
• Familiarity with or interest in archival and collections-management standards and practices.
• Comfort working hands-on with physical collections and archival materials.
• Graduate students in archives, library and information science, museum studies, art history, decorative arts, material culture, or a related field are strongly preferred; qualified upper-level undergraduates may also be considered.
• Must meet all eligibility requirements of the hirify.global Summer Internship Program.

Nice to have

• Interest in jewelry, decorative arts, design history, sculpture, material culture, art history, archives, or museums.
• Previous experience with archives, museums, libraries, special collections, or collections management.
