Technical Staff Engineer - Software (Embedded)

Location: Santa Rosa, California, United States; onsite engineering role

Annual base salary: $91,000–$232,000

What you will do

• Translate product requirements into scalable, modular embedded software architectures.
• Design and implement reusable embedded software components for precision timing systems.
• Develop, debug, test, and optimize embedded software for reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform root-cause analysis and resolve software defects during integration and system testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD practices.
• Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual eligible under US export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded networking, TCP/IP, NTP, or PTP.
• Experience developing secure software for embedded or network-connected systems.
• Familiarity with RTOS, embedded Linux, or Yocto Project development.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and managing priorities across concurrent development efforts.
