Software Engineer (Embedded) I

Location: Moorpark, California, United States; onsite work in an office and R&D environment. Periodic travel to approved flying locations and irregular hours during deadlines or field testing may be required.

Salary: $66,500–$101,500 per year

What you will do

• Develop and test embedded software for aircraft, payloads, sensors, embedded processors, and robotic systems.
• Design, implement, debug, and improve software for prototypes and production products.
• Support system requirements, test plans, diagnostic tools, validation testing, and hardware selection.
• Develop proof-of-concept demonstrations and contribute to rapid prototyping and conceptual testing.
• Support software transition to production and certification while participating in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Conduct design reviews and maintain configuration control under established software development processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience and demonstrated systems troubleshooting ability.
• Proficiency with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL, and/or OpenCL.
• Experience with Visual Studio, Eclipse, or a similar IDE and defect-tracking tools.
• Experience with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, and USB protocols, plus mathematical and analytical skills.
• Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR requirements or be eligible for an export license.

Nice to have

• Experience with STM32 processors and RTOS platforms such as µC/OS or FreeRTOS.
• Experience with Video4Linux, Ubuntu Linux kernel modification, Linux/ARM drivers, or ROS.
• Basic electronics knowledge and laboratory equipment experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, initiative, and ownership.
