Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Moorpark, California, United States; office and R&D environment with periodic travel to approved flying locations

Salary: $147,000–$224,250 per year

What you will do

• Develop and test embedded software for aircraft, payloads, sensors, embedded processors, and robotic systems.
• Design software for prototypes and production products while maintaining configuration control and software quality.
• Lead system requirements, test plans, diagnostic tools, validation testing, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Support hardware selection and define processing, memory, and storage requirements.
• Lead rapid prototyping, conceptual testing, design reviews, and transition of development software to production and certification.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex system and software issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12–15 years of relevant experience with strong system troubleshooting, mathematical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python, C, C++11/STL, and/or OpenCL.
• Experience with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, and USB protocols, IDEs, defect tracking, and source control tools.
• Experience developing Linux/ARM drivers; familiarity with STM32 processors, RTOS environments, embedded Linux, and Video4Linux is required or strongly valued.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR or be eligible for an export license; some contracts may require current U.S. citizenship.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree.
• Test-driven development, unit testing, automated build, test, and deployment environments.
• Experience with ROS, electronics laboratory equipment, and multi-threaded object-oriented design.
