Junior Geospatial Analyst (GIS)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States. Applicants must be U.S. Persons: U.S. citizens, permanent residents, Asylees, or Refugees.

Salary: $81,000–$108,000–$118,800 annually for the Washington, DC metropolitan area; ranges may vary by hiring location.

What you will do

• Create, edit, update, and maintain geospatial data using ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
• Manage vector, raster, imagery, web-service, and externally provided datasets in enterprise geodatabases.
• Support the migration of global geospatial data from Oracle to PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
• Create and validate spatial geometries, topology, attributes, domains, subtypes, schemas, and metadata.
• Perform data transformations, migrations, conflation, integration, spatial analysis, and GIS-service maintenance.
• Develop data tests and repeatable quality-control procedures, document findings, and collaborate with developers, database administrators, system administrators, project managers, and mission stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of professional GIS or geospatial data-management experience.
• Experience with desktop GIS applications, multiple geospatial data types and formats, geodatabases, spatial geometry, topology, attribution, schemas, domains, subtypes, and metadata.
• Experience performing compatibility testing, quality control, quality assurance, and repeatable data-validation procedures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. Person and able to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Strong SQL skills and experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, hosted feature services, map services, and web maps.
• Experience integrating APIs, web services, imagery, or other external data sources.
• Experience with large geospatial datasets, enterprise data modeling, or geospatial database design.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community customers.
• ESRI certification, an active security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
