Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 USD per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain core billing and invoicing systems using C# and PHP.
• Architect scalable, distributed payment systems that support high transaction and merchant volumes.
• Use Claude and Cursor across design, implementation, testing, refactoring, and code comprehension while validating AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Lead technical discussions, code reviews, architectural decisions, mentoring, and engineering best practices.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, logging, alerting, and development processes.
• Protect payment and merchant data, support PCI DSS compliance, resolve escalated issues, and communicate technical risks and decisions across teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of experience developing complex software.
• Advanced proficiency in C# and/or PHP, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
• Advanced experience with database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems with focus on performance, reliability, maintainability, security, and PCI compliance.
• Production experience with Claude and Cursor, plus sound judgment about the effective and safe use of AI tools in large or legacy systems.
• Experience with code reviews, mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and translating complex business requirements into technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with logging systems such as Logz.io.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, monitoring, and alerting systems such as DataDog or NewRelic.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.
