Battery Systems Technical Lead

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Domestic relocation is available, and travel is expected up to 15% of the time.

Salary: $147,760–$221,640 per year.

What you will do

• Lead battery programs from concept through design freeze, certification, and production launch, starting with a 50V forklift program.
• Gather customer requirements and translate duty cycles, operating environments, and application needs into traceable battery system requirements.
• Own battery architecture, sourcing, and make-buy decisions while building consensus across engineering, suppliers, portfolio management, and commercial partners.
• Lead technical engagement with cell, module, and pack suppliers, including design reviews before design freeze.
• Partner with performance and validation engineers on performance, durability, and certification testing.
• Develop scalable battery architectures, resource plans, project estimates, and risk mitigation plans for hirify.global platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• Extensive experience with battery cells, modules, packs, BDUs, and BMS.
• Experience solving battery system challenges involving thermal management, thermal propagation, electrical architecture, and machine-platform integration.
• Advanced project and team management experience, including cross-functional engineering teams and production-launch planning.
• Experience with requirements analysis, architecture decisions, supplier collaboration, and customer-facing technical work.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; onsite availability five days per week is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with battery electric powertrain integration, including BMS hardware and software.
• Battery performance and data analysis experience.
• Experience with both low- and high-voltage battery systems.
• Experience working directly with customers and battery suppliers.
