Advanced Battery Systems Engineer (Electric Vehicles)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, and the ability to report to the local office required.

What you will do

• Create high-voltage, lithium-ion battery pack systems for future electric vehicles.
• Define battery pack requirements with vehicle, propulsion, cell, thermal, electrical, safety, and analysis teams.
• Develop battery architectures, select components, and validate designs through engineering analysis and virtual tools.
• Conduct technical trade-off studies within battery packs and support propulsion and vehicle-level design decisions.
• Coordinate with propulsion, cell systems, design, validation, and technical specialist teams to align requirements and deliverables.
• Benchmark automotive and other industries to identify innovative technologies and support intellectual property submissions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Five years of experience in engineering complex automotive propulsion systems, systems engineering, battery engineering, product development, and engineering requirements.
• Five years of experience applying engineering first principles, developing analytical models with Excel and MATLAB, and taking products from concept or prototype to production.
• Three years of experience analyzing thermal, electrical, and fluid systems; selecting cell formats and chemistries; and working with high-voltage battery systems.
• Ability to work in the Warren, Michigan hybrid arrangement and report to the local office.
