Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States, with offices in Seattle and Paris for connection and collaboration.

Salary: $170,350–$275,550 annually in the United States, plus equity.

What you will do

• Set technical direction and own architecture for AI-powered developer tools and a self-service AI developer tools platform.
• Design, build, and operate production AI agents for code review, test generation, deployment diagnostics, and incident response.
• Build reusable platform capabilities for deployment, observability, security, operational tooling, and cost management.
• Define standards for LLM integration, agent development, AI infrastructure, reliability, performance, and security.
• Lead cross-team technical delivery, design reviews, architecture documentation, and adoption of AI tools across hirify.global.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and improve alerts, runbooks, and operational tooling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with technical leadership on production systems at scale.
• Hands-on production experience building LLM-powered applications, AI agents, or AI-assisted developer tools.
• Strong knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agent orchestration, and AI software development workflows.
• Experience with distributed systems, Kubernetes, GitOps, observability, CI/CD, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, or Python; Go is preferred.
• Experience leading complex cross-team initiatives, influencing without direct authority, mentoring experienced engineers, and communicating effectively in a remote, async-first environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with MCP or similar AI agent integration standards.
• Background in developer productivity, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Experience with Terraform, Pulumi, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Contributions to open source AI, developer tooling, or platform engineering projects.
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and operational practices for production AI systems.

Hiring process
